Leicester booked their spot in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup by beating Wolves.
The Foxes progressed in the cup on Tuesday courtesy of a 3-1 win on penalties after the game had ended goalless at Molineux between the Premier League teams.
Manager Claude Puel opted to rest a few key first teamers in the cup and Iborra was one of the main beneficiaries of that, as he played a full 90 minutes and even scored his penalty in the shootout.
Iborra is a deep-lying playmaker that helped control the tempo against Wolves for large spells and is a technically gifted ace with plenty of experience.
The 30-year-old central midfielder is yet to start in the Premier League this season for the Foxes, but is a mainstay in their cup XI.
He will be hoping he’s done enough to force his way into Puel’s thinking in the league and the 6ft 2in enforcer certainly managed to impress some fans on social media with his latest outing.
Here is some of the Leicester reaction to Iborra’s display against Wolves:
You were Man of the Match, Iborra. Well done.— Rufus T. Firefly (@jrr226) September 26, 2018
Iborra is a baller man, partnership with Mendy needed— Ben (@Vardesque) September 25, 2018
You were superb!— Matt Beechey (@MattBeechey) September 26, 2018
Iborra is pure class plays the game like he's playing in slippers #lcfc— James Stevenson (@Jam3sStevenson) September 25, 2018
Iborra is a Rolls Royce. You can almost hear him purring as he glides along the turf #lcfc— CH ⚽ (@ForFoxSake15) September 25, 2018
How Iborra isn’t getting more of a look in for the first XI is beyond me. A deep sitting playmaker that’s a real threat on set pieces and an asset at the back. Great range of passing, something we lack with Ndidi and Mendy IMO. #lcfc— WTFox (@WTFox1884) September 25, 2018
I love Danny Ward as much as I dislike Shinji! Iborra had a great game. Time for a rest Ndidi. Mendy and Iborra to start against the toon. #lcfc— lcfc all the way (@tweetrandomegg) September 25, 2018
