Aston Villa's new owners are keen to tie down the futures of their best players.

According to the Telegraph, Aston Villa are set to offer James Chester a new contract, and if they can get him to sign, that could be a huge signal of intent from their new owners.

Villa have already secured the future of Jack Grealish, after a summer of speculation over his future.

Grealish’s decision to stick with Villa shows just how much faith he must have that the new owners will take the side in the right direction.

And if Chester signs too, then Villa will have really announced that they mean business.

The claret and blues made some impressive signings in the transfer window, and Chester sticking around would be an eye-brow raising move.

Chester has had interest from Stoke City recently, but if he sticks with Villa, it will be a major boost to Steve Bruce’s side.

And if Villa can get Chester’s and Grealish’s futures sorted in the same group, then they will have taken huge strides forward.
