Alioski featured for Leeds in their Championship match against Birmingham at Elland Road this past Saturday.
The 26-year-old winger started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes, as Marcelo Bielsa’s side lost 2-1.
The Macedonia international - who joined the Whites from Lugano in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post to be worth £2 million - scored for the home team in the 85th minute, but former Leeds striker Whelan was not impressed with the winger’s overall performance.
While analysing Leeds’s performance on BBC Radio Leeds after the match, Whelan said: “We gave them (Birmingham City) a head start. They defended really well up until the Alioski goal, who I think was bang average today, apart from a fantastic finish.”
Alioski scored seven goals and provided five assists in 40 Championship starts for Leeds last season, according to WhoScored.
So far this campaign, the winger has scored three goals and provided two assists in nine league appearances for the West Yorkshire outfit, according to WhoScored.
Against Birmingham this past Saturday, the 26-year-old took three shots, had a pass success rate of 73.9%, made one tackle and committed two fouls, and made four key passes, according to WhoScored.
