Newcastle United fans want Jamaal Lascelles to earn an England call-up, but it seems Gareth Southgate will turn to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Conor Coady.

Gareth Southgate could be about to make a decision which annoys Newcastle United fans if he calls up Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Conor Coady ahead of Jamaal Lascelles.

According to the Daily Mirror, the England boss is considering calling Coady into the Three Lions’ squad for the next set of international fixtures in October.

But Newcastle fans may feel that Lascelles has been unfairly overlooked, if Coady gets into the national team ahead of him.

Lascelles has impressed at Newcastle for well over a year now, with the centre-back becoming one of the Magpies most integral players.

Yet Southgate has overlooked Lascelles so far, and if Coady gets the nod, Newcastle fans are bound to think it’s an unfair decision.

Newcastle supporters were calling for Jonjo Shelvey to get a call up the England squad for the World Cup, but he was not selected.

And it seems that Lascelles could still be some way away from being involved with England too, as Coady is now seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.
