Former West Brom star Valero came on for Inter against Spurs.
Tottenham Hotspur suffered a late defeat to Inter Milan despite leading the Italian giants 1-0 with five minutes of normal time to play, as former West Bromwich Albion star Borja Valero came off the Inter bench to inspire a comeback.
Spurs had lead until the final five minutes through Christian Eriksen's deflected effort, before Mauro Icardi struck home an impeccable volley from 20 yards out after a deep cross from Kwadwo Asamoah.
Valero, 33, came on in the 89th minute and instantly had an impact as he delivered a number of balls into the box and kept things ticking as Inter pushed for a winner.
Finally, the Italian giants' efforts paid off, as Stefan de Vrij headed a corner towards Spurs' back post before midfielder Matias Vecino was on hand to flick the ball into the corner of Michel Vorm's net - sparking vast celebrations.
One-time Spain international Valero has come a long way after his one-season spell in the Premier League with West Brom, where he struggled to make much of an impact after agreeing a £4.7million (Independent) move in 2008.
He managed 36 outings before being loaned back to Spain twice, before joining Villarreal in 2011.
Indeed, Mallorca and Villarreal signed him on season-long loans for the last two of his three years at West Brom, and Baggies fans reacted to his cameo role against Spurs on Tuesday night.
