Tammy Abraham scored his first Aston Villa goal as Steve Bruce’s men won 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Tammy Abraham has taken to Twitter to thank the Aston Villa fans after he scored his first goal since joining the Villans on loan in their latest Championship clash on Tuesday night.

Steve Bruce’s men went into their game with Rotherham United under a fair amount of pressure. They had drawn four and lost two of their previous six games and there was plenty of discontent emerging from the portion of supporters who appear to have lost faith in Bruce.

But they have moved themselves back into the top six in the Championship with a 2-0 win at Villa Park. Abraham marked his home debut with the opening goal before Yannick Bolasie doubled the lead late on.

And Abraham – who became the club’s final signing of the window as he arrived on loan from Chelsea on deadline day – has taken to social media to comment on the win and pay tribute to the supporters for the reception that he was given.

Roy Keane and the growing links to Celtic

Here is what Abraham posted…

The game may have ended Villa’s winless run, but the result has probably not alleviated much of the pressure on Bruce’s shoulders. Rotherham are the kind of team that the Villans would have expected to dispatch while also making a statement.

The pressure therefore, will swiftly return if they cannot pick up a positive result from their clash with Sheffield Wednesday this weekend. But with Abraham taking little time to open his account for Villa, Bruce may be feeling fairly optimistic about their chances of getting back-to-back wins.
