Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski is struggling to stay onside this season.

Leeds United continued their superb run under Marcelo Bielsa on Tuesday night, as they swept Preston North End aside in a 3-0 thumping.

The Whites saw Liam Cooper open the scoring before Tyler Roberts grabbed a brace, his first two goals for the club since arriving from West Bromwich Albion in January.

Everything is going so well for Leeds, as they sit top of the Championship table with five wins and three draws from their eight games this season.

Bielsa, being the meticulous manager that he is, will always be looking for ways to improve though, and there may be room for improvement with winger Ezgjan Alioski.

The Macedonian winger, 26, has started every league game under Bielsa this term, notching two goals and two assists.

That’s a decent record for Alioski, but a deeper dig into his stats throws up one problem for the winger, as he leads the entire Championship with 13 offsides in just eight games.

Britt Assombalonga of Middlesbrough is second with 12, and then it’s a huge drop-off to Fraizer Campbell on seven, highlighting just how disappointing his record is – especially as he was offside just 24 times in the entirety of last season.

It was on show again in the victory over Preston, as he rounded Declan Rudd to score – as seen above – only to be flagged offside, squandering an opportunity to score for the Whites.

This is the sort of thing that may just annoy Bielsa, who is such a particular manager, and with Jack Harrison stepping up and Pablo Hernandez to come back, a little more sharpness from Alioski is needed to avoid all those offsides and keep his place in the starting line-up when everybody is available.
