The left-back has impressed in Rangers youth squads of late.
Matthew Shiels has posted on Instagram after the Rangers teenager was handed a three-year deal by the Gers after starring for the club's Under-18 and Under-21 sides of late.
Shiels, 18, has signed a contract along with highly-rated midfielder Stephen Kelly which will see the left-sided defender remain at Ibrox until the summer of 2021.
The club's official website claimed that playing against some of Europe's best sides last season helped both Shiels and Kelly in their development, and ultimately saw them win new deals with Steven Gerrard's side.
Shiels took to Instagram to underline his joy to Rangers fans after agreeing a new deal, coincidentally putting pen to paper on his birthday on Thursday. He said that he was "delighted".

Shiels is thought of highly at Rangers after already earning two Scotland Under-19 caps. Though he is yet to train with the first team like the impressive Kelly, it is expected he will be given a chance sooner rather than later.
Rangers do boast a number of left-sided defenders, though. New signings Jon Flanagan and Borna Barisic remain the club's two options, while Lee Wallace is third choice.
Gerrard's faith in youth has seen the likes of Glenn Middleton, Kyle Bradley and indeed Kelly throw their hat into the first-team ring, and Shiels will use that as encouragement.
