Ian Wright shares why he feels sorry for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur didn't sign any new players during the summer transfer window.

Ian Wright was a guest on Sky Sports' The Debate programme last night, and explained why he feels sorry for Tottenham this season, suggesting that they do not have much strength-in-depth outside their starting XI.

Spurs finished in third spot in the Premier League table last season, but failed to sign a single player during the summer transfer window, whilst all of their direct rivals spent lavishly.

 

Mauricio Pochettino's men began their season in fine fashion, however, winning their opening three league outings, but the cracks began to appear during their defeat at Watford two weeks ago.

Wright discussed Tottenham's lack of depth during a guest appearance on Sky Sports' The Debate last night, highlighting how Pochettino has little choice but to keep playing a tired-looking Harry Kane:

“People are talking about Harry Kane being injured or them possibly resting him. But if that’s the case I don’t see where their goals are going to be coming from. You have to feel for Spurs because although their first XI is very good, there’s not much to back it up.”

Spurs play host to Liverpool at Wembley Stadium tomorrow, and Pochettino's men will be desperate to silence their critics by beating Jürgen Klopp's magnificent side.
