Middlesbrough fans react as former striker suffers setback at Leeds.
Middlesbrough fans have reacted in a largely supportive way towards former striker Patrick Bamford after he suffered an injury early on into his Leeds United career.
Boro sold Bamford to Leeds United at the end of July for £7 million.
Last week he suffered a knee injury in an under-23 game and now faces four months out of action, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.
Bamford subsequently posted on Twitter to say he was ‘gutted’ and hopes to be back as soon as possible.
Thanks to everyone for the messages of support. I’m gutted by the news but I’ll be back ready to help the team as soon as possible and I’ll be behind the boys all the way in the meantime. #MOt— Patrick Bamford (@Patrick_Bamford) September 11, 2018
Bamford’s Leeds United and former club Middlesbrough both sit in first and second place in the Championship table after good starts to the season.
The striker has had a slow start at Leeds so far, with Kemar Roofe the current first choice.
It would be easy for Boro fans to be churlish and feel glad that their rival and former striker is out of action for a few months, but barring one or two exceptions, supporters were keen to wish him a speedy recovery.
