Back in May, Spanish winger Suso admitted that he would jump at the chance to return to Anfield later in his career.
I’ll never forget my experience,” he told The Guardian. “Premier League football is different, I would call it special. I would like to play for Liverpool again someday.”
Sold to AC Milan for just £1 million in 2015, Suso has been proving ever since why The Reds were wrong to let him go. Now 24, the left-footed right-winger has blossomed into one of Serie A’s most feared attackers, scoring and assisting 29 goals in the last two seasons in Italy’s top flight.
Back in January, Calciomercato claimed that Liverpool were interested in bringing Suso back to Anfield with a £43 million release clause in his contract definitely affordable.
And new reports from Italy are suggesting that the one-time Spain international could indeed be on his way back to England – but with Chelsea rather than Liverpool.
Calciomercato claim that Blues boss Maurizio Sarri could attempt to take advantage Chelsea’s connections with Milan, strengthened by Tiemoue Bakayoko’s loan move to the San Siro, in order to lure Suso to Stamford Bridge.
Suso could perhaps be seen as a younger alternative to Pedro or Willian, while giving Chelsea some strength in depth that they are arguably missing at present.
So if Liverpool really want to bring Suso back, they cannot afford to wait around.
