Stoke City midfielder Darren Fletcher was impressed with Aston Villa star John McGinn’s performance for Scotland against Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium ace Mousa Dembele.

Stoke City midfielder Darren Fletcher praised Aston Villa summer signing John McGinn for his performance for Scotland against Belgium on Sky Sports Main Event last Friday evening (10:02pm, September 7, 2018).

McGinn featured for Scotland in their friendly international match against Belgium at Hampden Park in Glasgow last Friday evening.

Despite being at fault for the Red Devils’ opening goal, the midfielder gave a good account of himself during the encounter.

Scotland international and Stoke midfielder Fletcher was following the match, and the former Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion star was impressed to see how the 23-year-old midfielder played against Tottenham Hotspur and Belgium international midfielder Dembele – who earns £55,000 per week as salary, according to Spotrac.com.

Fletcher said about McGinn on Sky Sports Main Event last Friday evening (10:02pm, September 7, 2018): “I thought he was powerful. I thought he went toe-to-toe with Dembele, one of the best midfielders in Europe.”

McGinn joined Villa from Scottish club Hibernian in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Times to be worth £2.75 million.

The 23-year-old Scotland international midfielder has been superb for Villa in the opening weeks of the season.

The former St. Mirren star has provided two assists in five Championship starts for Villa so far this campaign, according to WhoScored.
