According to The Mirror, Zinedine Zidane already has four targets in mind if he becomes the new Manchester United boss in 2019, amid rumours over Jose Mourinho's future.

The Red Devils have disappointed under Mourinho this term, and whilst they came into the international break with a 2-0 win at Burnley, speculation still surrounds United.

If Mourinho goes at some point during or at the end of this season, then one of the main names touted to replace him is Zinedine Zidane, who is currently out of work having left Real Madrid this past summer.

The Frenchman may see replacing Mourinho as a dream job, and The Mirror report that he already has four targets in mind should be manage to land the job at Old Trafford.

Intriguingly, two of them are players once targeted by United under David Moyes in 2013; Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos 'almost' signed for United, according to comments Moyes gave The Express, whilst another Zidane target is believed to be Bayern's Thiago Alcantara, who was wanted by the United hierarchy but now by Moyes, claimed Guillem Balague.

That would suggest that Zidane wants major reinforcements in midfield even after the investment in Nemanja Matic, Fred and Paul Pogba, whilst playmaker James Rodriguez – a Bayern teammate of Thiago – is also though to be of interest, though that would be a huge surprise given a somewhat fractious relationship at Real Madrid.

The other target is Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, which would add real competition for Romelu Lukaku in the final third and another big name for Zidane to work with, just like he had at Real.

It's stated that United know Zidane won't be a free agent forever and may need to move before he is snapped up elsewhere, but if he really does have a shortlist in mind already, then they may just be his first choice anyway.
