Ntcham was the subject of interest from other clubs this summer, but remained at Celtic.
Simon Ferry has told Open Goal's 'Keep it on the ground' podcast that Olivier Ntcham is the best central midfielder Celtic have had in years - more so than captain Scott Brown.
Ntcham, 22, has starred for Celtic since joining the Scottish champions last summer from Manchester City for a fee believed to be in the region of £4.5million.
The French midfielder has clocked up 60 appearances since then, helping Celtic win the treble last season as well as scoring 13 goals and creating seven assists in that time. His latest goal came in The Bhoys' 1-0 win over Rangers.
Ferry, who came through the ranks at Celtic but failed to make an appearance for The Hoops before leaving to join Swindon Town in 2010, reckons Ntcham has been the club's best performer in recent years.
“Ntcham is the best midfielder I’ve seen here in years,” Ferry said. “I can’t believe how fit he looked, he won the ball back, tackled, and he always passed the ball forwards."
Ntcham was linked with a move to Porto throughout the summer, with Goal claiming that Celtic opted to reject a £13million offer for the France youth international towards the end of August.
The former Genoa loanee has three years remaining on his contract, but as he continues to shine, interest in the powerful midfielder is only likely to increase.
