Olof Mellberg became a Aston Villa fans’ favourite during his playing days, and now there are calls for him to return.

Aston Villa fans have begun to call for Olof Mellberg as a replacement for Steve Bruce.
Villa have lost their last two matches against Burton Albion and Sheffield United, which has put Bruce under serious pressure.
Large sections of claret and blues fans feel that Bruce is failing to get the best out of the squad available to him at Villa Park.
And Villa fans are now keen to see Mellberg come back as manager.
Mellberg represented the Villans for seven years between 2001 and 2008 and became a fans’ favourite with his performances at the back.
The Swede stepped into management in 2017, and guided Brommapojkarna to back-to-back promotions.
Mellberg eventually stepped down from his job as Brommapojkarna boss, and is currently without a club, so he would be free to take the Villa job, if it was offered to him.
