Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce is coming under increasing pressure after this afternoon’s defeat.

Stan Collymore has appeared to reiterate his desire to see Aston Villa sack manager Steve Bruce.

The Villans were thumped 4-1 by Sheffield United at Brammall Lane on Saturday, with Bruce’s side 3-0 behind before the half-time whistle.

Billy Sharp added a fourth early in the second half, but Anwar El-Ghazi – the only late Aston Villa signing included in the squad, with Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abraham left out – pulled one back for Bruce’s side after the hour mark.

Former Villa striker Collymore tweeted ‘bye bye’ after his old side were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by Burton Albion on Tuesday.

And Collymore has now responded to that tweet by posting several emojis of waving hands, indicating that he believes it’s time for Bruce to go.

It doesn’t look good for the veteran manager, but he should be spared until Bolasie and Abraham are available to make their Aston Villa debuts.

They are two huge players, but they’re also two Bruce signings so it makes sense to wait.
