Fleetwood Town are considering moves for former Sheffield Wednesday winger Ross Wallace and former Newcastle United midfielder Ryan Taylor, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Wallace is a free agent after leaving Wednesday earlier this summer following the expiration of his contract at Hillsborough.

Taylor is also a free agent after returning to England after a spell in India with Super League side ATK.

Both players have been invited to train with Fleetwood by Cod Army boss Joey Barton as he wants to have a look at the pair at close quarters before deciding whether or not to offer them a deal at Highbury.

Barton knows Taylor having played with the midfielder during their time together at Newcastle and his versatility in that he can play in defence and midfield appeals to Barton.

Wallace boasts a wealth of experience having made over 480 appearances in his career to date in spells at Celtic, Sunderland, Preston North End, Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday.

Fleetwood have made a solid start to League One this season and Barton could decide to add Wallace and Taylor to his squad if they impress during their training stints this week.
