Vurnon Anita hasn't made a Championship appearance under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United and a return to the Eredivisie reportedly beckons.
Marcelo Bielsa has been pretty ruthless in getting rid of the dead wood at Leeds United.
Since his arrival at Elland Road this summer, 14 players have been forced out either on loan or on a permanent basis such as Felix Wiedwald, Laurens de Bock, Pawel Cibicki and Ronaldo Vieira.
And Vurnon Anita, who hasn’t played even a second of first-team football under Bielsa, appears to be the next in line for the cull.
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that the former Newcastle United man was one of two players Leeds were still hoping to ship out before Friday’s transfer deadline, with the out of favour midfielder Eunan O’Kane being the other.
And latest claims suggest that the three-time Dutch international could be about to return to his homeland after just one year in West Yorkshire.
NOS is stating that Willem II are closing in on a deal to bring Anita back to the Eredivisie, where he started his professional career as a 16-year-old with Ajax.
The 29-year-old made over 150 appearances for the Amsterdam giants before joining Newcastle in 2012, winning two Eredivisie titles. Willem II, meanwhile, have enjoyed an impressive start to 2018/19 and sit fourth after thrashing Heracles 5-0 at the weekend.
