Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Manchester United 3-0 on Monday night.
Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told Football.London that he wants to congratulate chief scout Steve Hitchen after Lucas Moura's display against Manchester Untied.
Spurs headed to Old Trafford looking to continue their fine start to the season, and after a tight first half, Tottenham took complete control in a superb second half display.
Harry Kane scored an inch-perfect header from Kieran Trippier's corner to put Spurs in front, and Christian Eriksen's impressive movement allowed him to tee up Lucas Moura for the second just moments later.
Spurs weathered the United storm after their second, and were then able to hit Jose Mourinho's side on the break, with Moura dancing past Chris Smalling before whipping an outstanding finish beyond David De Gea for 3-0.
The result kept up Tottenham's 100% start to the season, and announced winger Moura as a Premier League star having run the United defence ragged at Old Trafford.
The January signing from Paris Saint-Germain had a slow start last season, which is understandable given that he was frozen out at PSG for the first half of the campaign, but he is now fit and firing.
The Brazilian showed the pace that Spurs have been looking for, and whilst boss Pochettino hailed him after the full-time whistle, he also had words of praise for chief scout Steve Hitchen.
As quoted by Football.London, Pochettino suggested that 41-year-old talent spotter Hitchen deserved congratulations as he advised Spurs to sign Moura, suggesting that the player and the staff behind his arrival deserve praise all the same.
“Yes, many many praise he is going to receive now,” said Pochettino. “But for me I want to say to our chief scout Steve Hitchen and all the people that worked with him, because they advised to sign him. When the people sometimes criticise because always it is tough now, I think I need to say well done, because today's performance from Lucas Moura, for the people that advised and feel responsible too, they need to be praised too.”
'That is why I want to congratulate them. There are always people who are working behind and it was a fantastic job because today I think Lucas deserves a lot of credit,” he added.
