Leeds United are hoping to earn the right to play in the Premier League next season by winning promotion.
One of their former players enjoyed top flight status is ex-Leeds forward Mirco Antenucci, who is playing for SPAL in Serie A.
Last night the 33-year-old scored one of the best goals of his career when he truck a volley into the top corner to give SPAL a lead over Parma.
Just one of Leeds United's initial signings under Massimo Cellino remains at the club, fan favourite Gaetano Berardi.
Antenucci was one who stood a chance of success, but the fact he was brought in on a two-year deal meant he was unlikely to last long term and after falling out of favour after repeated changes in management, he sought a return to Italy.#
It is hard to argue he made the wrong move, and last night's goal was a sign he is still likely to play a prominent role this season.
The strike caught the attention of Leeds fans, some of who even proclaimed they would welcome him back despite their current success...
