Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen to bring the Southampton forward to Parkhead.

According to a report from the Sun (print edition August 26th, page 61), Celtic are interested in signing Southampton striker Shane Long on loan.
The Republic of Ireland international joined the Saints from Hull City in the summer of 2014, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £12 million, and he has gone on to score 27 goals for the club.
He has fallen down the pecking order at St Mary’s this season under Mark Hughes, however, and the Welshman is reportedly willing to let him leave on loan before the end of the month.
According to a report from the Sun (print edition August 26th, page 61), Celtic want to bring Long to Parkhead, as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking ranks.

The 31-year-old is a hard-working forward, and he would undoubtedly bring more industry and penetration to the Hoops’ play in the final third.
Celtic will not have things all their own way in the race for Long, however, with a selection of Championship clubs also reportedly interested in obtaining the Irishman’s signature.
