Hector, who spent last season on loan to Hull City from Chelsea, could become Sheffield Wednesday’s first summer signing.
Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a move for Michael Hector, the Chelsea defender who spent last season on loan to Hull City.
The 26-year-old’s position is one in which Wednesday are expected to strengthen after having their transfer embargo lifted last week.
But when asked at a press conference earlier, Jos Luhukay, the Owls manager, would not reveal whether or not a new central defender is indeed his priority and refused to be drawn on the Hector speculation.
Hector, for whom Jose Mourinho paid around £5 million to bring to Chelsea from Reading three years ago, played 38 times for Hull last season, having previously spent time at Frankfurt, Aberdeen and countless other clubs.
And Hull fans are perhaps then the best bunch to ask for insight into the Jamaica international.
This is what they’re saying about the prospective Sheffield Wednesday recruit on Twitter…
That’s a bullet dodged – heard us being linked with Hector. I hoped it was just talk with no substance #hcafc

4 times in a whole season; still not great. As @wezzytiger said, error prone. Too many mishaps that cost City dearly last season. Wouldn’t want him back unfortunately.

There’s a player in there, but I don’t think constantly being sent out on loan is helping him much. Started off alright here, very quickly became a liability.

Honestly, the allams haven’t been enough to make me get rid of my season ticket, if we re signed Michael Hector I would of.

He is, can play CDM as well, wish we never got rid of him

And one Chelsea fan added:
Hope it’s a permanent deal. Saw him play for Chelsea in pre season, woeful. We’re talking djilobodji levels of play

Would the former Hull City loanee be a good addition for Sheffield Wednesday?
