The Ivorian midfielder could have become Wolverhampton Wanderers’ record signing.

According to Calciomercato, Wolverhampton Wanderers made an offer worth €60 million (around £54 million) for Franck Kessie in the summer transfer window.
Wolves are said to have been willing to pay AC Milan €40 million (around £36 million) up front, with a further €20 million (around £18 million) then due in bonuses.
But the newly promoted club were ultimately unable to prise Kessie away from the San Siro, where according to Calciomercato negotiations are underway regarding a new contract.
And that, in addition to Wolves’ subsequent capture of Leander Dendoncker from Anderlecht, could put pay to Wanderers’ chances of landing the Ivorian midfielder.

Kessie has scored or made 11 goals since his £18 million transfer from Atalanta a year ago, and his form is also said to have attracted interest from Atletico Madrid.
Had the 21-year-old moved Molineux, he would have eclipsed Adama Traore (who is rumoured to have cost between £18 million and £22 million) as Wolves’ record signing.
