Rangers will be hitting the transfer market looking for a replacement for injured star Jamie Murphy after he was ruled out for the season.
They should not be targeting a young player, having already signed promising attackers Ryan Kent and Ovie Ejaria from Liverpool, instead they need an experienced pro like Murphy... somebody like Jason Puncheon.
The Crystal Palace captain just happens to be available for loan, the London Evening Standard report, as he looks to revive his career following his own injury battle.
Puncheon scored in the 2016 FA Cup Final for Palace but his career has been challenged by injury since.
Now 32, Puncheon needs a fresh start, having recovered to full fitness but no longer being part of Roy Hodgson's plans.
A move to Scotland to play for Rangers could be just what he needs, with the attacker able to pay on either flank or through the centre.
Best of all, if Rangers show interest, the Steven Gerrard factor could see the Gers beat off all competition to bring Puncheon to Ibrox.
"He was a local lad playing for his club. To know that local lads can come through and play for their clubs was a massive driving force."
Puncheon played for Palace against Liverpool in 2014, a match which killed off Gerrard's last chance to win the title for Liverpool, and then in the Reds' star's farewell a year later.
Gerrard will be well aware of him, and a mutual respect between the two could make for a superb partnership at Rangers, even if just for one season.
