As reported by the Daily Record, The Dons are reluctant to lose any more of their players on the cheap, particularly after Jonny Hayes moved to Parkhead for just £1.3 million in 2017. As a result, they are demanding a mammoth £10 million for McKenna.
But this hefty valuation hasn’t stopped Celtic from making a move for the 21-year-old centre-back.
According to the Scottish Sun, The Hoops have now made their first bid for McKenna in an attempt to test Aberdeen’s resolve with less than two weeks remaining before the transfer window slams shut.
Dons boss Derek McInnes has set his stall out by claiming that McKenna was not for sale this summer. But it remains to be seen whether Celtic’s offer could make them think overwise, though it is not known just yet how much Brendan Rodgers’ side have offered.
A £10 million fee would make McKenna, who captained Scotland on only his fourth international appearance against Mexico this year, the club’s all-time record signing.
Though some fans would argue that sorting out a nervy looking defence is just priceless.
