West Ham United lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham United’s start to the season took another bump on Saturday afternoon as they lost 2-1 at home to Bournemouth after taking the lead.
The Hammers were thrashed 4-0 at Liverpool last weekend, and were looking for a response as they played their first home game of the new campaign.
Manuel Pellegrini was looking for a first win at the London Stadium, and that looked to be on the cards when Marko Arnautovic converted from the penalty spot after a foul on Javier Hernandez.
However, West Ham capitulated in the second half, as Callum Wilson managed to go on a mazy run and score, before Steve Cook landed the winner for the Cherries.
It’s now two defeats in two for West Ham after that defeat at Anfield, and fans are understandably unhappy – and took to Twitter to criticise individuals for their performances against Bournemouth.
Worryingly for West Ham, club-record signing Felipe Anderson really struggled to make any sort of impact against Bournemouth, all too similar to his poor display against Liverpool last weekend.
Fans took to Twitter to slate the Brazilian, suggesting that he was lazy and dreadful, with one fan already claiming that Anderson won’t make it in the Premier League, just weeks after he sealed his move from Lazio.
Others want Anderson dropped for the game against Arsenal last week, and were left confused as the playmaker seemed reluctant to take on defenders, joking that veteran full back Pablo Zabaleta was more of a threat.
felipe anderson will not make it in this league end of #whufc— Neilbrooks (@nb2509) August 19, 2018
Don’t care what anyone says, when you spend £40m on a player like Anderson you have to have an instant return. He was terrible again today. (Remember we only spent £10.5m on Payet and he delivered instantly). #WHUFC— Chris Mills (@Millsy_Official) August 18, 2018
Why are people saying it’s 2 games? We still can’t defend and Anderson is not very good 2 games or not it’s fact. He can’t be bothered to defend or take on his man.— West Ham Hub (@WHUFC_HUB) August 18, 2018
£40m for Felipe Anderson. Geezer can’t even be bothered to take on his man. Zabaleta looked a bigger threat going forward.— West Ham News (@whufc_news) August 18, 2018
Has anyone had a more shocking home debut than Anderson today. #WHUFC— Glenn White (@glennwhu) August 18, 2018
Anderson has to be dropped out of the squad next week— WHUFC (@IRONSSSS) August 18, 2018
Felipe Anderson was diabolical. I can take someone taking time to settle in but not a complete lack of effort. Should be dropped. Defence a shambles too #WHUFC— No6 (@ADevonshire70) August 18, 2018
Another disappointing result…. dunno why the commentator is always raving on about Anderson, for me he didn’t do much all game and looked lazy… Gonna be a hard few weeks now with our fixture list.. but anyways onward and upward to the next #COYI #WHUFC— 父 Gary Wadsley 父 (@GaryWadsley) August 18, 2018
