Premier League outfit Everton sent young Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru to Super Lig champions Galatasaray in the summer.

Henry Onyekuru has played just one game for Galatasaray since he joined on loan from Everton in the summer. But it seems that, despite 84 goalless minutes in the 3-1 win at Ankaragucu on Saturday, Gala fans have already taken to their speedy Nigerian forward.

There is plenty of room for improvement. Onyekuru looked a little selfish at times in key positions and gave the ball away more often than he should.

But, on the other hand, the 21-year-old caused real problems to the hosts’ defence with his pace and direct running while his defensive work rate, something he was frequently criticised for lacking during last season’s spell at Anderlecht, was refreshingly impressive.

Onyekuru will spent the 2018/19 season with Galatasaray as he aims to earn a work permit which will allow him to finally make his Premier League bow with Everton.

The Toffees beat off a whole host of competition from across Europe to sign the striker, who models his game on Thierry Henry, from KAS Eupen in 2017 for £7 million, according to the BBC.

And the hope will be that he can follow in the footsteps of Ademola Lookman in Leipzig and Kieran Dowell at Nottingham Forest, returning to Goodison in a years’ time with his reputation greatly enhanced. He’s certainly made a good start.
