The Nottingham Forest forward is said to have been left shocked by developments, as Blackburn Rovers look to make him their most expensive signing in six years.
Blackburn Rovers have offered £6 million to sign the Nottingham Forest forward Ben Brereton in a loan-to-buy deal, according to the Sun.
But the newspaper claims the two clubs remain far apart in their valuations of the England youth international, for whom Forest are understood to want £12 million – despite leaving him out of their opening four fixtures this season.
It adds that Blackburn’s owners, Venky’s, have recently experienced massive profits and are willing to make their biggest individual investment since spending £8 million on Jordan Rhodes six years ago.
Brereton himself is said to have been shocked by the developments and can leave for the right price, according to the Sun.
The Nottingham Forest academy product only turned 19 in April, but has already made 57 senior appearances – from which he has scored or assisted 16 goals.
But the summer arrivals of Lewis Grabban, Hillal Soudani, Gil Dias and Diogo Goncalves have left Brereton with a battle on to regain his place in Aitor Karanka’s team.
