Middlesbrough are looking to make the most of the loan window before it shuts at the end of August.
Middlesbrough made some impressive signings over the summer, but still lack a creative midfielder to consistently create chances each game.
Tony Pulis brought in some shrewd defensive acquisitions in Paddy McNair and Aden Flint and, according to the Hartlepool Mail, Boro are now being linked with a move for Real Madrid prospect Martin Odegaard.
Middlesbrough fans have taken to social media to react to the news of a potential loan move for the young Real Madrid player.
The Championship side lost their most creative outlet to Premier League new-boys Wolverhampton Wanderers when Adama Traore departed from the Riverside earlier this summer.
Traore was key in Boro's run to the Championship play-offs last season, scoring five goals and assisting his teammates on 10 occasions, something that Pulis's side would clearly miss this term.
However, with the second tier table toppers now linked with a loan move for Odegaard, Middlesbrough's creative problems could be solved.
The 19-year-old has struggled to live up to his £80,000 a week wage so far in his short professional career, with Odegaard making one appearance for the European giants and then moving on loan to Dutch side Heerenveen.
However, a move to Boro under the watchful eye of the experienced Pulis could certainly kickstart his career, allowing Odegaard to fulfil his obvious potential.
Here is some of the reaction to the news from Middlesbrough fans:
Might be worth a punt— DAVID (@davidnorman23) August 13, 2018
He was very average for heerneveen, just cause he’s a Madrid player doesn’t mean he’s good— akmedo (@akmedo) August 13, 2018
untried youngster without a real position doesn't sound very Pulis— Dale Stangoe (@DaleStangoe) August 13, 2018
At the moment I’d take Bill Oddie.— Aneil Bedi (@dogsboro) August 13, 2018
I'd rather play our own talented 19 year olds it's experience we need through the door— Darren dye (@Darrendye6) August 13, 2018
The answer should be is he any better than our own youngsters? If not, or we don't have a clue who he is then No, we're just training someone else's kid and giving them experience which disappears at the end of the year when we have good kids that need a chance.— Steve (@spgraham) August 13, 2018
Why not, if he flops he flops and we send him bcak to Madrid— Adam Paxton (@APaxton86) August 13, 2018
Was at one point the player with the most potential in the world— Smoggy (@Smoggy186) August 13, 2018

124 matches: 13 goals.— Franzipan (@Franziipan) August 13, 2018
Only 3 last season from 38 matches in the Netherlands.
I know he's only 19 but is he worth £30k/week? Loan someone showing better form.
