Derby County fans have had a mixed response to the rumours that they are interested in Martin Odegaard of Real Madrid.
And Rams fans seem to be divided over whether it would be worthwhile bringing the playmaker in.
Odegaard is regarded as a supreme talent, and a player with a bright future at Madrid, so it is understandable that some Derby fans are eager to see him in acton at Pride Park.
However, others are more cautious, as they feel Frank Lampard has all the attacking options that he needs already.
Imagine if we signed odegaard! Get the option of playing 4-2-3-1 would be unreal in championship!— DCFC (@DcfcFansTalk) August 12, 2018
Where have you seen this? that would be unreal— DCFC (@DcfcFansTalk) August 12, 2018
Imagine if we signed Odegaard, that would be hilarious #dcfc— Ollie (@Wileman_Oliver) August 12, 2018
If we're going to play 433 we need a mobile holding midfielder who can get around the pitch, and an attacking player who runs without the ball but has that little bit of quality. Does this Ødegaard work hard and does he never stop running? I really don't know #dcfc— Hob Knead (@LampFrankpard) August 13, 2018
I wouldn’t take him at Derby, I think he has some of the same qualities as Mount. It just pisses me off that people think Odegaard is good from seeing video’s of him which is fine imo, but then people saying it’s just because of Fifa, and it’s bollocks. No one should mention Fifa— BrandonAmess16_ (@Brandon14DerbyX) August 13, 2018
Don't know about bringing Martin Odegaard in. We could do with a couple of defenders.— Martin Hollingsworth (@rezner) August 13, 2018
Odegaard is said to be on £30,000-a-week wages at Madrid, so meeting those salary demands could be difficult for Derby.
The Rams have started the season in rather underwhelming form, but there is still plenty of time for them to improve, as they get to grips with Lampard’s patient style.
Derby are in action later tonight in the League Cup, when they take on Oldham Athletic.
