The Poland international is riding the crest of a wave at Leeds at the moment after opening the scoring for the Whites yet again in Saturday's 4-1 win at Derby County.
This is a player who was loaned to Utrecht in January after starting just the one Championship game under Thomas Christiansen during the first half of last season.
He has already doubled the amount of league starts that he earned under Christiansen last term, with Bielsa seemingly a big fan of the midfielder.
And former Leeds star Whelan reckons that Klich - a £1.5 million signing from FC Twente last summer - is simply getting the love now that he was starved of when Christiansen was there.
"Sometimes you need to feel loved by a manager, you need to be told that you are part of the plans," he told BBC Radio Leeds.
"We have seen a midfield player that is absolutely thriving at the beginning of the season.
"Two goals in two games, fantastic overall performance and he is playing with a smile on his face, which is more important because you want players to be happy here and have that winning mentality – and he's certainly got both at the moment."
It's quite a turnaround for a player who didn't seem to have much future at Leeds at the start of the summer, but what hunger he has shown and fans will be delighted with him so far.
