Former Toon player Alan Shearer Tweeted that Newcastle United suffered a disappointing result at home to Tottenham Hotspur as they deserved at least a point from their opening day 2-1 defeat.
For large spells the Magpies more than matched the visitors, but goals from Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli either side of a Joselu equaliser in the opening stages of the game handed Spurs all three points.
Tweeting immediately after the game, Shearer highlighted there were plenty of positives for Newcastle to take from the encounter.
