Reading manager Paul Clement believes Nottingham Forest have made some impressive signings this summer and now have a good blend in their squad as he comments ahead of the clash this weekend, Readingfc.com report.
The Royals travel to the City Ground looking for their first points of the season after they were defeated by Forest’s east Midlands rivals Derby County at home on the opening day of the season.
Forest will arguably provide a sterner test for Clement’s men this weekend, with the Reds starting to show their potential after two 1-1 draws in their opening two Championship games of the season.
Aitor Karanka has spent a lot of money this summer bringing in as many as 12 new players, with Clement talking up their impressive squad as he prepares his side for the trip up north.
“They have got a nice blend there," the former Derby manager told Readingfc.com.
"They’ve got some British players, Michael Dawson has gone back there from Hull and Lewis Grabban who we know for his time here on loan. And they’ve got some foreign players such as the three Portuguese players that they have bought in.
“They are trying to get that mix of experience and players who understand the Championship, as well as players that can make the difference. Forest are a good side – they played well the other night against West Brom.”
Forest have spent north of £20 million this summer, with the bulk of that going on the highly-rated Portugal U21 international midfielder Joao Carvalho who arrived from Benfica.
Carvalho wasn’t the only Portuguese ace to join Forest this summer, with Tobias Figueiredo making his loan move permanent while Diogo Goncalves and Gil Dias also joined on loan.
The Reds have brought in exciting young talent and experienced pros in Jack Colback, Michael Dawson, Lewis Grabban and Michael Hefele, therefore it’s easy to see why they’re among the Championship favourites.
