Spurs failed to lure Grealish to north London on deadline day.
Tottenham Hotspur failed to lure Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish to north London on deadline day and now the Championship side are reportedly preparing a new contract - and some Spurs fans have criticised chairman Daniel Levy.
Tottenham reportedly made an offer of £25million for the 22-year-old, who recovered from a kidney problem last season to shine for the Midlands outfit as they reached the Championship play-off final.
He has been one of Spurs' top targets throughout the summer but as 5pm struck on Thursday, Grealish was already said to be thinking about his future with his boyhood club Villa.
A new contract will see the England Under-21 international move on to more than £40,000 a week at Villa Park, as Bruce keeps the young star on side in a bid to make it third time lucky and return to the Premier League come May.
Some Tottenham fans reacted to the news that Grealish was set to be handed a bumper pay rise by Villa's new owners, with the majority criticising Levy and remaining frustrated as the club failed to make one summer signing.
