Nottingham Forest would only allow Jason Cummings to join Peterborough for the season, with Aitor Karanka wanting the striker to develop on loan.
Posh have brought in Cummings from Forest, but only on a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer.
And MacAnthony is frustrated that Cummings isn’t at Posh for longer than a season.
“The gaffer was talking about a couple of loans, but we already have Cummings,” MacAnthony revealed. “Our policy isn’t to do loan strikers, but we did it with Cummings. We develop our own strikers. I’m still a bit irked with the Cummings one that we couldn’t sign him, but it is what it is.”
Cummings struggled for game time at Forest last season, and the hope from Aitor Karanka's side is that a loan move to League One can unlock his potential.
Forest have added to their attack over the summer, which meant that Cummings was never likely to receive regular action at the City Ground.
Cummings started Posh’s first game of the season though, which came against Bristol Rovers last term.
The Forest loanee was largely anonymous during the contest, and was substituted off just after the hour mark.
Cummings may well face a fight to keep hold of his place at Posh now, as Steve Evans’ men snapped up Ivan Toney from Newcastle United on deadline day.
