Manchester United had a nightmare deadline day as they failed to sign any players.
The Red Devils' last major signing came before the World Cup, blundering with their late attempts to sign a defender.
It was at odds with newly promoted Wolves, who have shown ambition and determination over the past month, signing proven winner Joao Moutinho and then following that up with Adama Traore and Leander Dendocker.
While not all of those players would improve United's squad, the very way Wolves attacked the transfer market, decisively, and showing ambition, is at odds with Manchester United's approach since early June.
United finished second last season and already that looks like a best case scenario for 2018/19, not a satisfactory target for a club of their stature.
Fans of the Red Devils have been left frustrated, and many pointed to Wolves as evidence they should be doing more, while expressing admiration for the way Nuno Santo's side is being run.
Here is a look at some of the comments via Twitter...
How grim is it that Wolves and West Ham have had better transfer dealings than us #mufc— Leo Carter (@LeoCarter27) August 9, 2018
Can we get the guy in charge of handling Wolves’ transfers this season? #MUFC— Nicket (@Nicket_S) August 9, 2018
Wolves have done better business than United. That is pathetic. #mufc— Alex Jones Beard (@lordcuntage) August 9, 2018
