Sheffield Wednesday are without Atdhe Nuhiu against Hull City.
Sheffield Wednesday must do without Atdhe Nuhiu for Saturday's visit of Hull City.
Nuhiu, whose prolific 2018 continued at Wigan last weekend, will serve a one-match ban courtesy of the second yellow card he picked up during a 3-2 defeat at the DW Stadium.
But given the poor showing of many of those behind him in Lancashire, the Kosovo international may not be the only player to drop out of Jos Luhukay's starting line-up against the Tigers.
Lucas Joao will almost certainly replace his close friend after an impressive cameo at Wigan, although those Wednesday fans hoping to see Steven Fletcher alongside the Portuguese may be left disappointed.
According to his manager, Fletcher is only fit enough to play 45-60 minutes having spent eight months on the sidelines, pointing to a bench role for the Scotland international with neither Gary Hooper nor Sam Winnall yet match-fit.
And that is likely to see Luhukay stick with a three-man central midfield, comprising Barry Bannan, Joey Pelupessy and one of Sam Hutchinson, Adam Reach and George Boyd (in order of most to least probable).
Many Owls fans have called for Hutchinson to replace Joost van Aken in central defence, a prospect Luhukay has considered.
But given the Dutch manager's lack of options upfield, Van Aken could yet earn a reprieve or even find his place taken by Jordan Thorniley.
Left-back Morgan Fox and winger Marco Matias are also options should Luhukay wish to shake up his side, while the teenage Bulgarian striker Preslav Borukov could be named on the bench.
