Tottenham Hotspur fans will not need reminding that their side failed to complete a single signing on deadline day, or throughout the entire transfer window as it transpired.
And with the window now shut, at least for Premier League clubs, it seems that Mauricio Pochettino is facing up to the prospect of losing one important member of his first-team squad with no chance to replace him.
According to the Sun, Danny Rose could still bid farewell to North London between now and the end of August. Bundesliga runners-up Schalke have been in talks about a loan move to the Veltins Arena but it is reported that Rose is dreaming of a move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG are on the lookout for a new first-choice left back after selling Yuri Berchiche to Athletic Bilbao and the 28-year-old England international fits the bill.
But should Rose leave before the end of the month, this will only succeed in removing the longest-serving player from Tottenham’s squad. Pochettino’s side were linked with a number of left-backs over the summer, but now they have missed their chance to replace Rose should he go elsewhere.
And although the former Leeds youngster made just 10 Premier League appearances in 2017/18, a Tottenham side looking to compete on a number of fronts need all the players they can get.
