Timothy Fosu-Mensah is heading back to London, about 10 miles south east of where he was plying his trade last season.
After a season-long loan at Crystal Palace, the Dutch defender has joined newly promoted Fulham, with Manchester United obviously feeling that he would benefit from another temporary move away from Old Trafford.
And Fulham fans seem to be very impressed with Fosu-Mensah’s addition to a squad that looks capable of making a real splash in the top flight.
Although they should perhaps take a glance at the views of Crystal Palace supporters before getting carried away with the 20-year-old’s arrival at Craven Cottage.
Fosu-Mensah certainly had his moments at Palace, particularly in that impressive goalless draw with Manchester City on New Year’s Eve. But the three-time Dutch international ended the season as Roy Hodgon’s third choice right-back, being overtaken by Joel Ward and the academy prospect Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
The fact that Fosu-Mensah featured in just one Premier League match during the final three months of the season speaks volumes. So the United prospect will be hoping that he can leave a more positive impression on his new supporters in the white of Fulham.
I do not want to see any Palace fans crying over Fosu-Mensah to Fulham. He really wasn’t that good.#CPFC— CPFC HQ (@CPFCHQ) August 9, 2018
