Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose could be on the move today.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is in talks over a surprise loan move to German side Schalke on deadline day.
Spurs remain the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer, and they head into deadline day in desperate need of additions to boost Mauricio Pochettino’s options.
However, players could yet leave Spurs today as well, and whilst much of the focus in that regard surrounds centre back Toby Alderweireld, another defender could be on the way.
Sky Sports report that Tottenham left back Danny Rose is nearing an exit, as he has been given permission to hold talks with Schalke, as well as other unnamed clubs.
Rose, 28, would possibly prefer to stay in England, but with Schalke back in the Champions League this season, he may not have many better offers at home.
The England international – who featured at this summer’s World Cup in Russia – was a key part of Pochettino’s side until an injury in January 2017, and the last 18 months have seen Rose suffer a major fall from grace.
Once a swashbuckling left back and an integral part of the way Tottenham attacked, Rose’s injury kept him out for around eight months, and he found it difficult to displace Ben Davies upon his return, especially after criticising the club’s transfer policy last summer.
An exit has looked inevitable all summer, but with a lack of major offers, Rose may now be left to head to Germany on loan, though the other offers suggest that Rose could still have big decisions to make today.
