The Rangers defender’s move is said to be off as things stand – with Steven Gerrard looking like keeping the right-back at Ibrox.

Norwich City’s Ivo Pinto is a potential alternative to Rangers’ James Tavernier for West Bromwich Albion, according to the Daily Mail’s live blog (Thursday 9th August, 11:50).
The newspaper claims West Brom’s move for Tavernier is off as things stand, after Rangers rejected the Baggies’ £3 million bid for the Ibrox right-back.
And with West Brom said to be close to their financial limit, a loan move for Pinto could be on the cards.
Unlike their Premier League counterparts, Football League clubs can continue to make temporary signings after today’s 5pm transfer deadline, while Rangers remain unaffected.

And that ensures there is little rush for West Brom if they do end up turning to the Norwich player.
Pinto captained Norwich for much of last season but was omitted from the Canaries’ squad that drew 2-2 with Birmingham City on the Championship’s opening day and recently entered the final year of his contract at Carrow Road.
