Leeds United had hoped to sign Oliver Norwood, but it appears that he is likely to join another Championship side.

It was reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post earlier this week that Leeds were admirers of the Northern Ireland international, while The Sun reported on their live transfer blog on Wednesday (08/08; 07:00) that the Whites were in advanced negotiations to sign the 27-year-old for a fee of £1.5 million.
However, it now appears that Marcelo Bielsa may not end the window with Norwood in his squad. According to the Argus, both Leeds and Hull are looking likely to miss out, with another Championship side apparently set to bag his signature. The report does not name the club that are supposedly going to sign Norwood.
Missing out on Norwood is perhaps a blow to Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds were superb in their opening day win over Stoke City at the weekend and their midfield pairing of Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich were key to the victory.

However, they probably do still need some additional depth in the middle of the park. Norwood has won back to back promotions out of the Championship and the seven-figure fee reported by The Sun had the potential to look like a real bargain.
It is not clear why Leeds have supposedly missed out, but the supporters will be hoping that it is because the club have another option lined up that is going to make not signing Norwood not seem like a setback at all.
