According to L'Equipe, Everton have won the race for Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, and are set to sign him on loan before tonight's transfer deadline.
The Toffees have added three new faces this summer in Joao Virginia, Lucas Digne and Richarlison, but up to four more new signings could be arriving today.
Playmaker Bernard is set to be confirmed as an Everton player after undergoing a medical, whilst the Toffees are attempting to push through a double raid on Barcelona for Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.
Another defender is wanted though, and L'Equipe now report that Everton have won the race to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma in a season-long loan deal.
It's claimed that Manchester United did make a move for Zouma, but Chelsea didn't want to strengthen a direct rival, and have subsequently chosen to send the Frenchman to Goodison Park instead.
Zouma, 23, has been with Chelsea since 2014, but has struggled for first-team football with the Blues, and spent last season on loan with Stoke City, only to suffer relegation to the second tier.
The centre back now appears to be heading to Goodison Park if Everton can push through a deal before the transfer deadline, which is fast approaching.
A deal for Zouma should see him partner Mina at centre back for Everton this season, giving new manager Marco Silva the defensive reinforcements he desperately needed.
