The transfer window is creaking shut but Queens Park Rangers are still allegedly hoping to bring a Premier League striker to Loftus Road.
Steve McClaren is hardly flush with potent goal-scorers in West London, so it seems that he has turned his attention to a man with an enviable record in the Championship – Tomer Hemed.
Hemed has scored three times in pre-season, but first-team opportunities look slim next season. Brighton have signed the Romania international Florin Andone from Deportivo, meaning Hemed is likely to be fourth in the pecking order behind Glenn Murray and Jurgen Locadia, too.
But the former Almeria and Mallorca striker could be the main man at QPR. He excelled in the Championship for Brighton between 2015 and 2017, scoring 30 goals in 73 games overall.
Hemed also has a very impressive one-in-two ratio for his country, netting 16 times in 32 games for Israel. And, with his contract expiring in a year, he would not cost a bomb.
QPR will be under a transfer embargo in January but are able to sign players until the end of August.
