Aston Villa are running out of time to bring in some attacking reinforcements – and will be left twiddling their thumbs and waiting for Watford if they want to complete a potentially very exciting loan signing.
TEAMtalk reported on Wednesday that Villa were likely to sign Watford’s forgotten man Isaac Success but that deal remains up in the air. According to The Mirror (live blog, 1.57pm), Watford will only send the 22-year-old to Villa Park once they have brought in a new striker themselves.
The Hornets are certainly looking but without any success thus far. The Watford Observer has claimed that a potential loan deal for Barcelona poacher Paco Alcacer is no longer on the cards while Foot 365 adds that they have failed in a £15 million bid for Nantes striker Emiliano Sala.
So this leaves Success’ move to Aston Villa looking very uncertain with just a few hours remaining in the transfer window.
The Nigerian has only made two Premier League starts since moving to Vicarage Road from Granada for a then-club record fee of £12.5 million in 2016, according to Sky Sports.
He also failed to make an impact during a loan spell at Malaga as they finished bottom of La Liga last season. But his time in Spain with Granada showed Success to be an exciting, fast and versatile forward capable of giving opposition full-backs a horrible case of twisted blood.
