In dramatic circumstances, Aston Villa and Bristol City are both looking for a left-back on transfer deadline day.
Bryan even agreed personal terms and completed his medical...only for Fulham to swoop in at the last minute. Reports that Steve Bruce was involved in a high-speed chase down to Craven Cottage, regrettably, remain unconfirmed.
As a result, Villa, and Bristol City of course, are now scouring the market for players capable of replacing Bryan. And it seems they have both settled on the same man – Chelsea’s highly-rated Jay Dasilva.
The Mirror (live blog, 8.28am) reports that Bristol City are interested in the 20-year-old, who has been likened to Chelsea legend Ashely Cole. But the Sun believes that Aston Villa could also launch a late bid.
Dasilva might not be a proven Championship left-back like Bryan, but the England U20 ace is one of the most promising young full-backs around.
He won the Fans’ Player of the Year award during a spell at Charlton Athletic last season and would benefit from a loan spell in a higher division.
