Bernard shares why he chose to join Everton over other clubs

AS Roma v FC Shakhtar Donetsk : UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Second leg

Everton completed the signing of Bernard just in the nick of time.

Bernard of Brazil

Everton new-boy Bernard spoke exclusively to Everton TV after joining the Merseyside outfit on a free transfer, and opened up on why he opted to move to Goodison Park, in spite of receiving plenty of offers from other clubs.

The 25-year-old winger spent a successful four year spell with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, chalking up 28 goals and 35 assists in 157 appearances in all competitions, and he arrives in England with a big reputation.

Toffees fans will surely be delighted to see the mercurial Brazilian arrive at Goodison Park, and will be hoping that he can fire them back into contention for the top six this season.

Bernard spoke to Everton TV after finalising his switch to Goodison Park, and shared his admiration for his new club's history and standing within the game, opening up on why he chose to join the Blues instead of other clubs:

“I chose Everton because of all the things I had heard about Marco Silva and after speaking to him I was happy with what he said to me. The manager made me feel confident about playing here. He is a very good coach and he has achieved really good things at other clubs. Everton is a club with a great structure and a lot of tradition, historically the fourth most successful club in England. That is why I made my choice, because of the confidence both the manager and the club showed in me. I did not need any convincing to come here. I believe I will be able to show my best as a player here.”

Everton have enjoyed a wonderfully successful transfer window this summer, and with Bernard now amongst their ranks, they will surely fancy their chances of gatecrashing the European places once again this term.
