The agent of Independiente midfielder Maximiliano Meza has told Crack Deportivo that West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is interested in signing his client – but no offer has been made.
West Ham have tied up eight new signings this summer, as Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson and Xande Silva have all arrived.
The Hammers are still chasing new signings though before Thursday's transfer window, and a midfielder appears to be on Manuel Pellegrini's wish list having allowed Cheikhou Kouyate to leave for Crystal Palace.
A host of midfielders have been linked with moves to the London Stadium, and another can be added to the list in Independiente star Maximiliano Meza.
Agent Sergio Carrizzo has discussed Meza's future, telling Crack Deportivo that Inter Milan, Real Sociedad, Getafe and Atletico Madrid are all interested, with West Ham United also keen.
Carrizzo claims that Pellegrini is interested in Meza, but West Ham are yet to make a bid – and in truth, there may not be time for the Hammers to launch a bid for Meza before Thursday's deadline, but he may be a name to keep on the radar for January.
Meza has starred in his native Argentina with Independiente, notching nine goals in 66 games since a 2016 move from Gimnasia y Esgrima, and his versatility to play centrally or on the right of midfield has been vital, as has his superb work rate.
However, some may remember Meza for his torrid World Cup, as he was something of a flop for Argentina with a series of disappointing performances, leaving many wondering just why he was in the Argentina squad in the first place - but Pellegrini seemingly hasn't been put off.
