Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Peterborough United are among a number of Football League clubs tracking highly-rated Bedford Town defender Ollie Swain, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Left-sided central defender Swain impressed for Evo-Stik Southern League side Bedford Town last season and he has made just under 100 senior appearances in his career to date.

A host of scouts from Football League clubs have been keeping tabs on Swain for some time after hearing rave reviews of his performances for Bedford Town.

The likes of Sheffield Wednesday and League One duo Barnsley and Peterborough have been alerted to Swain's potential and are weighing up moves for the 21-year-old defender.

Former England and Leicester manager Peter Taylor, appointed at National League side Dagenham & Redbridge earlier this summer, is also believed to be very keen on Swain after he impressed during pre-season.

More and more Football League clubs are now looking at non-league players as they try to find the latest talents that can make the step up into the professional ranks and Swain could be the next to make that move.
