Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 at Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.

Nottingham Forest kicked off their Championship season at Bristol City on Saturday afternoon, drawing 1-1 at Ashton Gate in a solid opening to the campaign.
Much is expected of Forest this season having invested heavily in new signings such as Joao Carvalho, Diogo Goncalves and Lewis Grabban, whilst boss Aitor Karanka has a Championship promotion on his CV too.
One of the favourites for promotion – or even a play-off place – Forest fans are expecting a strong campaign, and it all started with a trip to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City on Saturday afternoon.
Forest did fall behind against Lee Johnson’s side though, as Andreas Weimann opened his Robins account after just five minutes, giving Bristol City the perfect start to the new season.
However, Forest did hit back in the second half, as veteran striker Daryl Murphy – chosen ahead of new man Grabban – grabbed the equaliser to hand Forest a share of the spoils.
A point on the road is a solid start for Forest, and Karanka will be pleased to have bedded in some of his new signings, with Portuguese trio Carvalho, Goncalves and Gil Dias all starting their first Championship game.

Winger Dias is a particularly exciting addition on loan from Monaco, having spent last season on loan with Italian side Fiorentina, and the 21-year-old played 80 minutes before being substituted for Joe Lolley.
During and after the game, Forest fans took to Twitter to praise Dias, claiming he ‘looked a handful’ and ‘absolutely quality’, suggesting he was the star man and will only get better once he has more Championship football under his belt.
